“Be fit or be damned”, was the mantra of Percy Cerutty (1895-1975), legendary Australian distance running coach. Cerruty was ahead of his time when he introduced weight training to his distance athletes, which at the time was considered pointless, because of the associated mass gain. Excess mass in any sport where you need to carry your engine is fatal. But one needn’t be heavy to be strong.
Our aim at Fit or Damned is to offer training, which will promote physical or operating ability for your activity or sport of choice. “Gym” training must be a tool to make you better at what you do outside of the gym. We believe that training should be challenging and make you better but most importantly, FUN.
Physicality is important, so is nutrition but the MIND always occupies the top spot on the podium. No decision no change.
When YOU decide to make a difference, you must be ready. We will point you towards it and show you how to reach it. Our aim is to promote mindfulness when exercising and to appreciate the fact that you are able to move, that going to gym is not something to tick off, as one would do with a chore. We want you to appreciate life.
At our physical address we host fitness/strength classes. Some are hard and some are not. Hard training and even to over reach some times are important it exposes one’s soul. You learn from it. “Easy” sessions are harder because you need to practice patience for ultimate recovery in order to get fitter and healthier.
Naude Jordaan
Owner and coach of FIT or DAMNED since 2013.
I enjoy and prefer the outdoors with Kite surfing, Yachting, Hiking and Mountain biking as my main pursuits. I believe in operational or functional fitness and that gym or strength training, in spite of its artificial-ness, imperative in the quest for longevity and the practice of one’s sporting endeavours.
My latest interest, thanks to my wife (Kinesiology therapist) is the power of thought and how you can improve and cure anything by changing the way you think. You create your own reality.
Minine Jordaan
Owner and Applied Kinesiology therapist
Minine’s mantra, “Change your life, change your energy”.
Applied or Energy Kinesiology is based on an energy model and its main purpose is to keep the body’s energy in a balanced state of natural flow without any distortion e.g. negative thought patterns or beliefs or overly charged emotions. Distorted energy flow can also manifest into physical symptoms like migraines, back pain, lack of energy and anxiety. These symptoms are mere signs of your body calling for help, shouting out to you to listen and nudging you towards well being.
Energy Kinesiology brings back that joie de vivre and once your body gets back into its natural state of energy flow it starts healing itself. A good Kinesiologist merely assists you and your body back to a state of uninterrupted energy flow and balance in order to heal yourself, which is how it is supposed to be. There is natural help out there.
